I was coming to the end of a month travelling around italy and was staying at a lovely hostel in Florence. There was only 1 hostel in Cinque Terre and I couldn't book a room but was told to call each day to check if anyone had left. There was a possibility of a vacancy if I left early the next day so I got up at 5am, caught bus to the station, a train to La Spezia and another the Riomaggiore, arriving at 10am, I get the last bed!!
Was worth the bravery it took to make that move as I didn't really have a plan B....
